To look at was thirteen years old, a couple who lived down the way from my parents and me called and asked just was available to babysit. I had produced no babysitting experience whatsoever, but I knew each of the kids in question and figured I can use the moolah. I said yes to your job before I knew the logistics of the gig, much to my sadness later. It turned out, the dad and mom of these young people were going to be from home from four in the afternoon until 2 or three in the morning. Sure, I was thirteen and active, but that is a long time for an inexperienced babysitter, most assuredly when the children are not toddlers. Nevertheless, I waltzed up to their door at three-thirty inside afternoon, ready to work. The parents left us certain junk food and pop thereafter they were out the for the night. The kids and I had some fun in the beginning. We watched cartoons, we played catch outside and we ate hot dogs. By the time about nine o’clock rolled around, however, we were all extremely tired. We were sitting inside and noticed that the temperature of the tv room was really hot. I asked the kids where their thermostat was located so I could get the temperature right. He didn’t know. The younger sister had no idea, whether. We were all so sweaty, but I tried to make it an adventure. Whoever touches the thermostat primary gets ice cream! Even with the lure of fun, it took the three of us forever to find the thermostat. I was finally capable of addressing the heating issue in their home. By the time their parents got back, we were all plopped down on the couch, exhausted from our heating and cooling scavenger search for!
My sweetheart and I have lived in our new house since February. We have been occupants with this charming house for several months now. I think it’s safe to say that people enjoy living here. We give a home for a very smarmy dog and cat, and we ourselves are very comfortable. The only thing that’s worrying me is the air conditioning. As hotter weather approaches, I am wondering whether or not our air conditioning is in nice working order. Honestly, I really do not even know where in the house the HVAC dehumidifier is located. I feel as though I should contact our house owner to double make sure that this cooling system has been properly serviced during the entire years, but I do not plan to make him think I am attaining some sort of ridiculousness. I just know that my sweetie and I both have health issues that could be irritated if the a/c can be dirty or old and spits out any sort of airborne pollutant or dust. My sweetie is not sure if we have got a gas or electric cooling system. It isn’t particularly hot out, either, so in all seriousness I do not even know if this HVAC compressor switches on properly. Does it make me sound ridiculous easily contact my landlord inquiring about the repair and maintenance of the great house I am renting? Maybe I should check with my mom first and ask her opinion. As long as the heating and cooling system is cared for, I will be happy. Needless to say, I will most likely be more as happy to know that I are able to keep comfy in the heat of summer!
Last Friday morning I woke up to an overheated house. I needed to turn the temperature down. I tried all the buttons but nothing happened. I tried the reset button, which should have allowed me to manually adjust operation of the equipment. Suddenly, I heard the AC equipment make some scary sounds and entirely shut off. I couldn’t get it to start again, so I knew I was in need of repair. Now, I know that I could have called an HVAC professional for repair right away. Instead, I thought that maybe I could save some money by fixing it myself. The results were not good. I got out my tools, and got right at it. About two hours later, I had a lot of parts scatter around the lawn. Then I heard an ominous buzzing sound coming from the condenser. This seemed to indicate that I should stop. That’s when I decided to call a licensed HVAC company. They sent a technician right over. He examined everything, and seemed quite unhappy with me. He said that I had made the problem much worse, and damaged several components that would need to be replaced. He’d need to order the replacement parts, and I could expect them to arrive in about three days. That meant three days with no air conditioner. And the repair would cost more. It was quite a disaster. I have learned my lesson. I will never attempt to fix my air conditioner again. I think that I might be able to handle a repair on my furnace. I may give it a try.
Last Wednesday afternoon I woke up from a nap, and my house was super overheated. I got up to change the temperature on the thermostat. Although I hit all the right buttons, nothing seemed to be happening. I clicked the reset button, thinking this would allow me to manually change the temperature. Suddenly the air conditioner made a horrible grinding sound and completely shut off. At that point, I should have called an HVAC technician to handle the repair. I tend to try and handle problems by myself. I am fairly handy. I grabbed my tool box, did some research into air conditioning, and got right at it. About an hour later, I noticed a bizarre buzzing sound coming from my condenser, and I knew I should stop before I hurt myself. That’s when I decided to call an HVAC specialist. My local contractor came over to the house, examined everything, and informed me that I had caused more extensive damage to the air conditioner. I’d bent fan blades and broken some belts. He’d need to order replacement parts. I was then without a working air conditioner for four full days in the middle of July. The repair cost me a small fortune. A/C repair is definitely not as simple as I thought it was. I should’ve called a specialist from the start. I would have saved myself quite a bit of time, money, and discomfort. After that disaster, I enrolled in a preventative maintenance program, which will maintain my air conditioner in good working order. Any repairs during the season will be covered under the maintenance plan.
It was Saturday morning and I woke up without my air conditioner keeping the house cool. I tried to change the temperature in the house. I played with all the buttons however nothing seems to be happening. I held the reset which should have allowed me to manually change the temperature. Then, suddenly, I heard the A/C unit make a loud screeching noise and shut off. I assumed I’d need to pay a costly repair the AC. I am trying to save money, so I decided that I would try to solve the malfunction myself. The consequences of that decision were rather expensive. I grabbed my tools, read some information online, and set to work. After an hour on the project, I started hearing a worrisome buzzing sound coming from the condenser. At that point, I was pretty sure that I should stop. I had a lot of parts scattered across the floor. I decided it was time to call a specialist: My local Heating plus Air Conditioning contractor came over, examined everything, and informed me that I had created more damage by taking the unit apart. I broke several parts that would need to be ordered and replaced. I would be without air conditioning in the middle of July for about three days. Plus, the repair ended up costing more than it would have. It was a bad experience, but I learned my lesson. From now on, I will leave the repair of any HVAC equipment to a licensed professional.
On Tuesday morning, I woke up and needed to change the temperature in the house. I was sure I was hitting all the right buttons nothing seemed to be happening. I clicked the reset, hoping to allow myself to manually change the temperature and then suddenly I heard the entire A/C unit shut off. Needless to say, I figured out that I need to call for repair of the AC. I should have called the repair main immediately, but, I’ll admit, I was trying to save money. I was hoping I could solve the issue by myself. The consequences were not great. I grabbed my toolkit, and did a bit of research online. After about an hour and half into the project, I start hearing a frightening buzzing sound coming from my condenser, which warned me that I should stop trying to repair it. That’s when I decided to call a specialist. I contacted my local Heating and Air Conditioning contractor. He came over, examined everything, and told me that I had actually created more damage. He needed to order replacement parts to complete the repair. My attempts had actually made everything worse, created a safety hazard, and would now cost me more in replacement parts. I admit that Heating and Air Conditioning repair is not as easy as I thought it was. I should’ve called a specialist from the start, because I would have saved myself a lot of time and actually money. I also would not have ended up waiting several days for replacement parts, during the heat of the summer, without air conditioning.
It’s a casual Friday morning and I wake up to change the temperature in the house. I’m hitting all the right buttons but nothing seems to be happening. I click the hold reset which should allow me to manually change the temperature and then suddenly I hear the entire AC unit shut off. Needless to say, I found my adventure for the day: fix the AC. Now most people would call the repair main right away, however, I’ll admit, I’m the type of guy that thinks that “I can do everything by myself”. The basic hardheaded mentality that suffers numerous consequences. I grab my toolkit, put on some jeans and get right at it. At about an hour and half into the project, I start hearing a weird buzzing sound coming from our Goodman 14 Seer condenser, which then indicated me that I should stop. A sense of urgency kicked in, and that’s when I decided to call a specialist: my friend that does HVAC. He came over, examined everything, and notified me that I had actually created more damage and that 3 days of work would be needed for a full repair. On top of the horrid news, he made me knowledge that when I got into the supply duct for warm air, not only was I making things worse, I was opening myself to safety hazards such as carbon monoxide, valve damage, and even overheating. If I made any erratic decision things could’ve gone horribly wrong and I would of ultimately suffered along with my family. I basically had to go the hard way in learning that HVAC is not as simple as I thought it was. I should’ve called a specialist from the beginning which would of saved me a lot of time and probably money.
